A quick guide

How to use PDF to Images

  1. Choose a readable, unencrypted PDF up to 50 MB. Page previews are rendered locally at low resolution.
  2. Enter page numbers or ranges such as 1-3, 5. Overlaps are deduplicated and pages are exported in original document order.
  3. Choose PNG, JPEG, or WebP and a resolution: 72 DPI for screen-sized images, 150 DPI for general use, or 300 DPI for larger print-oriented images.
  4. Review each page's estimated output dimensions. Convert the selected range into a ZIP, or download a single page image from its preview card.
Example

For an 8-page PDF, selecting “1-3, 5” converts pages 1, 2, 3, and 5 into numbered image files in that order. You can also download any one page from its preview card.

Frequently asked questions

How are output dimensions estimated?

PDF.js uses each page's visible area: the CropBox clipped to the MediaBox, or the MediaBox when there is no CropBox. Page rotation is applied, so portrait and landscape dimensions reflect the displayed page. The PDF UserUnit is included in the viewport dimensions. Pixel dimensions are rounded up from viewport points × selected DPI ÷ 72.

Does this preserve searchable text or vector graphics?

No. Each page is rasterized into pixels. The images do not contain selectable PDF text or editable vector graphics, and this tool does not perform OCR.

Can I keep transparent page backgrounds?

PNG and WebP preserve transparent areas unless you enable a background fill. JPEG does not support transparency, so empty page areas are filled with the selected background color.

Why are there page and pixel limits?

Rendering can use substantial browser memory. PDFs are limited to 50 MB and 200 pages; output is limited to 12,000 pixels per side and 40 million pixels per page, with up to 100 million pixels total per conversion. ZIP output is limited to 100 MB.

Are files uploaded or sent to a conversion service?

No. PDF parsing and page rendering happen in your browser using a worker hosted by this site. No PDF contents are sent to an application server or external processing service.
