A quick guide
How to use this tool
- Choose a JPEG, PNG, or WebP image from your device, or drag it into the upload area.
- Select a target of 100 KB, 200 KB, 500 KB, or enter a custom size. KB means 1,000 bytes.
- Choose an output format. For JPEG and WebP, the compressor tries progressively lower quality settings.
- Optionally allow reduced dimensions if quality changes alone cannot meet the target.
- Check the actual output size, dimensions, and preview. Download the result when it is ready.
A 1.8 MB photo can be exported as WebP toward a 200 KB target. If quality adjustment at its original dimensions cannot reach 200 KB, opt into reduced dimensions and the tool will try smaller versions. The result is marked as meeting the target only if its actual encoded size is 200,000 bytes or less.

Frequently asked questions
Will the compressor always meet my target?
No. The result can be larger than the target if supported quality and dimension settings cannot make a file small enough. The output reports the actual file size and explicitly says when the target was not met.
What does 200 KB mean here?
Size targets use decimal kilobytes: 1 KB is 1,000 bytes. A 200 KB target therefore means no more than 200,000 bytes.
Does compression reduce image quality?
JPEG and WebP use lossy encoding at the quality levels tried, which may reduce detail. PNG encoding is lossless. Review the preview and result size before downloading.
Are my images uploaded?
No. Image decoding, encoding, and previews happen in this browser on your device. Hosting providers may still retain ordinary website request logs.
